Remarks
Original saxophone made by the inventor himself! It was made at 50 rue Saint Georges in Paris. Made slightly after the original patent expired (1866) and at the peak of his career. The neck probably was lengthened at some point in time to make it in tune. According to one web-site, many of Adolphe Sax’s saxophones were applied as such to make it playable at 440Hz. It is tuned at 435Hz.
This instrument has its own original custom-fit wood case. Most musical instruments from this peroid were sold without a case. This case was made for this saxophone but probably was not made by Adolphe Sax’s factory.
